NANJING -- Wang Yang stressed integrated development across the Taiwan Strait while attending the 2019 Zijinshan Summit for Entrepreneurs across the Strait here on Monday.
Integrated development was, is and will continue to be the only path to achieve mutual benefits and win-win results across the Strait, said Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
Against the backdrop of the Democratic Progressive Party administration's restrictions on cross-Strait exchanges, the summit was held as scheduled and participants from Taiwan hit a record high, which fully showed that the expansion of cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation echoes the will of the people and the trend of the times, said Wang.
The Chinese mainland and Taiwan have respective advantages in terms of capital, market, technology and talent, he said, adding that both sides can better cope with international challenges only by promoting integrated development through mutual opening-up.
The fourth plenary session of the 19th Central Committee of the CPC stated clearly to improve institutional arrangements and policies and measures to promote cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation, deepen integrated development and guarantee the well-being of Taiwan compatriots, said Wang.
He added that the Chinese mainland has rolled out over 50 measures in total to benefit Taiwan compatriots. Taiwan compatriots and enterprises can receive the same treatment as those from the mainland in areas including 5G construction, financing assurance and communication cost.
The Chinese mainland was, is and will continue to be the best destination for business people from Taiwan to invest and do business, said Wang.
Held in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu province, the summit attracted more than 1,300 business figures across the Strait.
