The General Office of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held an open day for the public on Oct 17.

A group of 80 students from five middle schools in Beijing visited the offices of the CPPCC National Committee. They toured exhibitions on the history of the Eighth National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the history of the CPPCC, watched a short video about the CPPCC National Committee, and took part in discussions.

Through these activities, the students revisited China's revolutionary history and gained a deeper understanding of the distinctive features and institutional strengths of socialist democracy with Chinese characteristics.

Hu Henglu, deputy secretary-general of the CPPCC National Committee, delivered remarks at the discussion session. Representatives of teachers and students from the Experimental School Affiliated to Beijing No 20 High School and the High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China, among other schools, shared their reflections on the visit and exchanged views with officials from relevant departments of the General Office of the CPPCC National Committee.

Representatives from the Department of Youth Rights and Welfare of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China and relevant departments of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League of China also attended the event.
