A team from the Committee on Economic Affairs of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) conducted a survey in Southwest China's Yunnan province from Oct 12 to 16 on expanding the supply of quality services and unlocking the potential of service consumption.
The team was led by Gao Yunlong, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC).
The team visited Kunming, Dali Bai autonomous prefecture and Lijiang, conducting field research in villages and towns, communities, agricultural cooperatives, integrated cultural and tourism projects, and businesses operating in emerging consumption sectors. The visits focused on local efforts to tap the potential of service consumption.
The team noted that in recent years, Yunnan has taken a range of measures to expand the supply of quality services, including formulating special plans, improving relevant institutional mechanisms, and launching initiatives to cultivate new growth drivers for service consumption.
These efforts have yielded positive results in unlocking the potential of service consumption, according to the team members.
They said that, facing changing circumstances and emerging needs, the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30) would present a major strategic opportunity for driving the country's service consumption, which is key to boosting consumption and expanding domestic demand.
The team members called for accelerating the development of a multilevel service consumption supply system by leveraging digital technologies, upgrading service quality, and making services more accessible and beneficial to the public.
They also stressed the importance of improving supporting facilities, developing new consumption scenarios and business models, and creating a sound institutional environment conducive to service consumption.
These efforts will help foster a higher-level dynamic scenario in which demand drives supply and supply generates new demand, they noted.
They stressed that the CPPCC should make full use of its role as a specialized consultative body, conduct in-depth consultations and deliberations on improving the quality and expanding the scale of service consumption, and build broad consensus to support the innovative and sustainable development of service consumption.
Ma Jiantang, vice-chairman of the Committee on Economic Affairs of the CPPCC National Committee, also participated in the survey.
