The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee hosted a science popularization lecture at the CPPCC auditorium in Beijing on Oct 15.

Tang Xudong, a member of the CPPCC National Committee and chief researcher of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, delivered a lecture titled "Inheritance and Innovative Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in the New Era". He also engaged in interactive exchanges with the audience.

Shen Yueyue, Mu Hong, Jiang Zuojun, and Yang Zhen, vice-chairpersons of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the lecture.

Tang's lecture focused on the core theoretical foundations of TCM, its inheritance and protection, modern innovative practices, and the coordinated development of TCM and Western medicine.

He systematically reviewed the development history of TCM over thousands of years, analyzed the current opportunities and challenges faced by the TCM industry, and shared his thoughts on promoting the inheritance and innovation of TCM.

Wang Zhigang, vice-chairman of the Committee on Education, Science, Health and Sports of the CPPCC National Committee, presided over the session.
