Zhu Yongxin, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy, led a team of members from the Committee on Education, Science, Health and Sports of the CPPCC National Committee to Northwest China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region from Oct 9 to 13 for science popularization activities under the "Science Popularization Tour" initiative.

During the visit, a launch and donation ceremony was held for the initiative, at which Zhu delivered a speech.

The team members visited the cities of Yinchuan, Shizuishan, and Zhongwei, extending support for science popularization projects. They also visited science and technology museums, science education bases, and schools to learn more about science popularization efforts at the grassroots level and the development and operation of local science education facilities.

The team members said they would continue to draw on the CPPCC's strengths in bringing together talent and expertise and maintaining extensive connections to build consensus and pool efforts to foster a social environment that values and respects science.

They also called on CPPCC members to demonstrate their commitment to serving the country and fulfilling their responsibilities to the people, make full use of their professional expertise, deliver science popularization lectures, and encourage more science and technology professionals to support and participate in science popularization initiatives.

During the visit, the Committee on Education, Science, Health and Sports of the CPPCC National Committee and the China Association for Science and Technology donated funding to relevant institutions in Ningxia for the development of township science museums and provided updated science education resources for mobile science popularization vehicles.

They also visited technology companies and industrial parks to learn about scientific and technological innovation and provide technical advice.

Xu Yanhao, vice-chairman of the Committee on Education, Science, Health and Sports of the CPPCC National Committee, also took part in relevant activities.
