The seventh study group of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee for the study of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era conducted a study visit at Beijing Institute of Technology and held its third quarterly study session of 2026 on Sept 28.

The group focused on the in-depth study and implementation of the important thought of Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on strengthening and improving the work of the CPPCC, as well as the guiding principles of his important speeches and instructions on education, science and technology, health and sports.

Shen Yueyue, vice-chairwoman of the CPPCC National Committee, presided over the session and delivered a speech. Zhu Yongxin, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the session and delivered a speech.

The participating CPPCC members unanimously agreed that Xi's important thought on strengthening and improving the work of the CPPCC have profoundly addressed major questions concerning what the CPPCC is, what it does and how it performs its duties, pointing the way forward for the development of the CPPCC in the new era.

They highlighted the need to uphold the nature and positioning of the CPPCC, give full play to its role as a specialized consultative body, and earnestly shoulder the political responsibility of ensuring the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee and its requirements for  CPPCC work are implemented, and of pooling the wisdom and strength of Chinese people both at home and abroad.

They noted the need to focus on the central tasks of the Party and the State, conduct solid research and study, engage in consultation and deliberation on State affairs, and contribute to promoting high-quality development and advancing Chinese modernization.

They also called on CPPCC members to strengthen their sense of responsibility and commitment to performing their duties, focusing on key and challenging issues in building China into a strong country in education, science and technology, talent, health and sports.

They also stressed the need to offer high-quality suggestions to help ensure the implementation of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30).
