Members of the Committee on Proposals of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee visited the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC) and held a symposium on Sept 28.

The visit and symposium were aimed at learning about the ACFIC's work on proposals since the 14th CPPCC National Committee was inaugurated and soliciting opinions and suggestions on improving the CPPCC National Committee's proposal work.

Gao Yunlong, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and chairman of the ACFIC, attended and delivered a speech.

Gao expressed the hope that the ACFIC, which plays the dual role of putting forward and handling proposals, would take this visit as an opportunity to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Committee on Proposals of the CPPCC National Committee.

He highlighted that the ACFIC's proposals should be closely aligned with important plans for economic and social development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30).

Focusing on its role in advancing the "two healthy" initiatives — the healthy development of the private economy and of personnel engaged in the sector — the ACFIC should draw on collective wisdom, devise sound strategies, offer policy recommendations, and build consensus, thereby supporting high-quality economic and social development with high-level proposals, he said.

In handling proposals, it is essential to strengthen closed-loop management and accurately identify where proposals are connected with the ACFIC's work, so as to ensure that handling one proposal can help resolve a broader set of issues and advance work in a specific area, he noted.

By doing so, the ACFIC can make contributions to achieving the goals and tasks of the 15th Five-Year Plan and breaking new ground in Chinese modernization, he added.

Liu Jiayi, chairman of the Committee on Proposals, led the team of CPPCC members on the visit and delivered a speech.
