The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee hosted a science popularization lecture at Beijing Forestry University on Sept 24.
Cui Lijuan, a member of the CPPCC National Committee and vice-president of the Chinese Academy of Forestry, delivered a report titled "Understanding Wetlands and Practicing the Thought on Ecological Civilization," and engaged in interactive exchanges with the audience.
Shen Yueyue, Shao Hong, Zhu Yongxin, and Yang Zhen, vice-chairpersons of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the lecture.
Cui introduced the powerful ecological functions of wetlands as the "Kidneys of the Earth," elaborating on the fruitful achievements China has made in theoretical innovation and technical practice of wetland restoration. She also highlighted the key role of scientific and technological innovation in ecological civilization development.
Wang Zhigang, vice-chairman of the Committee on Education, Science, Health and Sports of the CPPCC National Committee, presided over the session.
The science popularization lecture is an important part of the "serving the people" initiative of the CPPCC National Committee. It leverages the professional expertise of CPPCC members to contribute to improving the public's scientific literacy and fostering a social atmosphere that values and upholds the spirit of science.
