Ho Hau Wah, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, led a team of CPPCC National Committee members from the Macao Special Administrative Region to Zhejiang province from Sept 20 to 24 to conduct a survey on boosting high-level cooperation between Zhejiang and Macao.
The team members also conducted a supervisory survey on the handling of a key proposal on promoting Macao's alignment with the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) as well as its integration into and support for the overall national development agenda.
The team visited sci-tech innovation parks, advanced manufacturing enterprises, world-class port hubs, modern fishing bases, higher education institutions, and cultural venues in Hangzhou, Ningbo, Zhoushan, and other locations.
The team members engaged in face-to-face exchanges with heads of relevant departments, experts, scholars, and enterprise employees. This allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of Zhejiang's development practices in fields such as sci-tech innovation, talent cultivation, industrial upgrading, opening-up, and ecological conservation.
In addition, they learned about the progress made by Zhejiang and Macao in deepening economic and trade cooperation, strengthening industrial collaboration, and advancing mutually-beneficial and win-win outcomes.
During the survey, Ho also visited Zhejiang University, where some CPPCC National Committee members work, to conduct study and research. CPPCC National Committee members from Macao carried out activities under the "Serving the People" initiative at Ningbo University.
The team members noted that boosting high-level cooperation between Zhejiang and Macao is an important practice in implementing the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee and serving the overall national development strategy.
Focusing on key areas such as sci-tech innovation synergy, economic and trade empowerment, and cultural and tourism integration, both Zhejiang and Macao should further improve cooperation mechanisms, optimize resource allocation, continuously expand cooperation space, and elevate the cooperation level, they pointed out.
It is essential to fully leverage the strengths of the CPPCC in building consensus, pooling wisdom and strength, and rallying public support, so as to help elevate the high-level cooperation between Zhejiang and Macao to a new level, they added.
Liu Cigui, chairman of the Committee on Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese of the CPPCC National Committee, and Wang Wei, vice-chairman of the committee, participated in the survey.
