Zhu Yongxin, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee and executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy, led a team of CPPCC National Committee members to survey the development of mass sports events in Guizhou province from Sept 20 to 23.
The team visited sports venues, training bases, and social sports organizations in Guiyang, Anshun, and Liupanshui. By engaging with grassroots sports event organizers and organizations, and soliciting public opinions, the team pooled the wisdom of CPPCC members to drive the high-quality development of mass sports events.
The team noted that Guizhou stands out as a pioneer of the nationwide development of mass sports events. By building a province-wide comprehensive event system, innovating the "Sports Plus" integrated development model, and improving inclusive and equitable public service facilities, Guizhou has explored a distinctive path to sports development. This has shaped a "Guizhou model" for mass sports event organization and fitness initiatives across the country, they said.
The team proposed continuing efforts to develop local mass sports brands such as the "Village Super League" (Cun Chao) and build a multi-tiered sports event system covering tournaments at the primary, county and provincial levels.
They stressed the need to vitalize underutilized urban spaces and rural venues, while promoting the scheduled opening of school sports venues.
In addition, the team emphasized the need to improve safety management regulations for mass sports events with enhanced medical standby services and fully developed risk contingency plans.
They called for further deepening the integrated development of sports, culture and tourism, supporting social organizations and local enterprises in organizing sports events, and cultivating grassroots event-organizing teams, thereby promoting the deep integration of national fitness and health for all, and steadily enhancing the public's sense of gain and happiness from participating in sports activities.
Ding Xuedong, vice-chairman of the Committee on Education, Science, Health and Sports of the CPPCC National Committee, and officials from the General Administration of Sport of China participated in the survey.
