He Baoxiang, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang (RCCK), led a team to the Ganzi Tibetan autonomous prefecture, Southwest China's Sichuan province, from July 27 to 30 to carry out a democratic supervision survey on ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin.

The team visited the Yellow River ecological restoration site at Sexu town in Shiqu county, Changsha Gongma National Nature Reserve, and the Shiqu County Achievement Exhibition Hall. They learned about the protection and restoration of alpine wetland ecosystems, the cultivation of high-quality alpine forage, the recovery of rare wildlife populations, and changes in water quality and quantity.

During the visit, He stressed that ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin is a major undertaking vital to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

He called for prioritizing ecological conservation and pursuing green development, advancing integrated protection and systematic governance of mountains, rivers, forests, farmlands, lakes, grasslands and deserts, and continuously enhancing water conservation capacity.

He emphasized the need to develop green industries based on local resource advantages, expand pathways for transforming lucid waters and lush mountains into invaluable assets, explore ways to realize the value of ecological products with plateau characteristics, and turn ecological advantages into development strengths, enabling people of all ethnic groups to share the benefits of development while protecting the environment.

He also called for improving mechanisms for talent introduction and cultivation, strengthening public well-being, and improving education and healthcare services, so as to enhance the capacity of plateau areas to attract and retain talent and build stronger synergy for protecting the Yellow River and developing local communities.

He said the RCCK will continue to follow ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin, and leverage its strengths in talent and expertise to conduct in-depth research and offer suggestions, supporting Ganzi in pursuing a sustainable development path featuring ecological conservation, thriving industries and improved livelihoods, while jointly safeguarding the ecological barrier in the upper reaches of the Yellow River.
