Wang Dongfeng, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led a team of non-CPC members on a survey tour in Gansu province from July 20 to 24.

The team, split into groups, visited industrial parks, enterprises, universities, research institutes, and cultural heritage sites in Lanzhou, Zhangye, Jiayuguan, and Jiuquan. They held face-to-face discussions with researchers, business representatives, and local residents, and convened forums to hear views and suggestions.

The team recognized the progress China has made in deepening the integration of culture and technology, noting that new cultural business forms have grown rapidly in scale and improved in structure.

They stressed the importance of implementing the decisions of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and focusing on key tasks for building a cultural powerhouse during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30).

The team said the integration must head in the right direction to strengthen mainstream values, public opinion and culture, and called for advancing the Chinese civilization exploration project, applying technology to preserve cultural relics, and converting cultural resources into competitive advantages.

They urged developing culture-tech industrial clusters tailored to local conditions, with a focus on digital and intelligent transformation. International cooperation in digital cultural industries and cross-border cultural exchanges should be deepened to enhance the global reach of Chinese culture through technology.

The team also called on CPPCC members to contribute well-grounded advice and suggestions, rally support and build consensus for the creative transformation and innovative development of fine traditional Chinese culture, and for deeper integration of culture and technology, so as to advance the building of a cultural powerhouse.
