The 7th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 13th All‑China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC) was held in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on July 14 and 15.

Gao Yunlong, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and chairman of the ACFIC, delivered a work report. Wang Hongyan, a member of the Leading Party Members Group and vice-chairwoman of the ACFIC, delivered the concluding remarks.

The meeting reviewed the work progress in the first half of the year, assessed the current economic landscape, and set out priorities for the second half, with a focus on developing new quality productive forces.

The meeting noted that China's economy has been making steady progress this year, as the positive effects of the Private Sector Promotion Law continue to unfold, the modern industrial system takes shape at a faster pace, and young entrepreneurs demonstrate strong dynamism. All this has cemented the foundation for the private sector to pursue higher quality and greater innovation.

It was stressed at the meeting that federations of industry and commerce at all levels should advance their work tasks in the second half of the year in line with the 15th Five‑Year Plan (2026-30) outline, and encourage private firms to fulfil social responsibilities.

They should support private enterprises in developing new quality productive forces, organize a range of activities to foster innovation-driven development in the private sector, and contribute more to building a modern industrial system.

Their reform efforts should continue, upholding fundamental principles while breaking new ground, advancing reform of affiliated chambers of commerce, and taking fresh steps to cultivate chambers of commerce with Chinese characteristics.

Equally essential is to firmly establish and practice a correct approach to performance assessment, so as to achieve tangible progress in advancing the high-quality development of the work of the federations of industry and commerce, according to the meeting.
