A team from the Committee on Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) surveyed Jiangsu province from June 29 to July 2 on deepening business exchanges between Hong Kong, Macao and the Chinese mainland.
The team members visited Nantong, Changzhou and Nanjing. They toured industrial parks, manufacturing floors and R&D centers to examine how Jiangsu leverages the strengths of the modern enterprise system with Chinese characteristics, refines support services for private enterprises, and helps them upgrade governance and management practices. The team members also engaged in public-service activities under the "serving the people" initiative.
On July 1 and 2, Xian Hui, vice-chairwoman of the CPPCC National Committee, led the team to a national key laboratory at Nanjing University and high-tech enterprises for further research. She presided over a symposium to hear suggestions from local stakeholders. The team members said that Jiangsu has anchored its role as a major economic powerhouse, seized development opportunities, delivered solid results and made tangible progress.
They emphasized the need to better leverage the CPPCC's role as a specialized consultative body to build consensus on supporting the improvement of the modern enterprise system, integrate the manufacturing strengths of the mainland with the professional services of Hong Kong and Macao, and help accelerate the development of world-class enterprises.
