Hu Chunhua, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led a team of members of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Areas of the CPPCC National Committee to survey Henan province from April 14 to 16. The survey focused on advancing agricultural scientific and technological innovation and application.

The team members visited national key laboratories, featured agricultural bases, smart agricultural industrial parks, and agricultural service centers in cities such as Anyang and Puyang. They engaged in in-depth exchanges with scientific researchers, representatives of enterprises, grassroots cadres and members of the public to gain a first-hand understanding of technological innovation in seed industry, the development of smart agriculture and the promotion and application of agricultural science and technology achievements. They extensively solicited opinions and suggestions.

The team learned that Henan province has placed innovation as the core driving force of agricultural modernization, striving to promote full integration of agricultural scientific and technological innovation with industrial innovation, and the precise application of scientific and technological achievements in farm fields, contributing significantly to national food security.

The team members said that developing a strong agriculture is laying the foundation for a strong modern socialist country. It is important to fully leverage the CPPCC’s role as a specialized consultative body and make suggestions on key areas such as leading the development of new quality productive forces in agriculture through scientific and technological innovation, accelerating the efforts to achieve high-level self-reliance and self-strengthening in agricultural science and technology, enhancing comprehensive agricultural production capacity, quality and efficiency, and building agriculture into a modern, large-scale industry, they noted.

According to the team members, it is important for CPPCC members to actively perform duties, so as to contribute wisdom and strength to advancing all-around rural vitalization and accelerating the building of a strong agricultural nation.
