The Committee on Social and Legal Affairs of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC)convened a study symposium for the social sciences sector on June 15 in Beijing. Participants discussed efforts to deepen theoretical research on building an independent knowledge system of Chinese philosophy and social sciences. Zhou Qiang, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
The meeting urged giving full play to the distinctive strengths of the social sciences sector, and guiding experts and scholars in relevant disciplines to deepen systematic and theoretical elaboration of the Party's innovative theories.
It was emphasized at the meeting that focus must be placed on the major strategic needs of the Party and the State, with forward-looking research conducted on significant theoretical and practical issues in China's economic and social development.
The attendees also underscored the importance of producing more high-quality research outcomes that are grounded in Chinese perspectives and distinguished by their contemporary relevance, originality, and theoretical significance, thereby contributing to a new landscape in the development of philosophy and social sciences.
