Yang Zhen, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party, led a team of specially invited figures to inspect Jiangsu province from June 9 to 12. They focused on cultivating leading sci-tech enterprises and oversaw the handling of related key proposals.

The team visited Changzhou, Wuxi, and Suzhou, where they toured sci-tech enterprises, research institutes, innovation centers and national key laboratories. They engaged in in-depth exchanges with corporate executives and R&D personnel and held symposiums to learn about Jiangsu's promotion of original innovation, achievement commercialization and platform development.

The team members called for giving full play to the CPPCC's role as a specialized consultative body. In line with the goals and tasks of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–30), CPPCC members should conduct research and offer suggestions on strengthening the principal role of enterprises in innovation, deepening industry–academia–research collaboration, optimizing the allocation of innovation resources and improving evaluation and incentive mechanisms, they said. These efforts would build consensus and strength for accelerating the cultivation of leading sci-tech enterprises and building China into a science and technology powerhouse, they added.
