Shao Hong, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Jiusan Society, led a team of members of the Committee on Culture, Historical Data and Studies of the CPPCC National Committee to survey Shaanxi province from June 8 to 11. The survey focused on establishing a system of defining symbols and best elements of Chinese civilization.

The team visited Xi'an, Weinan and Hanzhong, touring history museums, cultural heritage sites, revolutionary sites and cultural preservation organizations. They learned about the progress in establishing a system of defining symbols and best elements of Chinese civilization, held discussions with officials, university experts, scholars and grassroots representatives, and gathered extensive opinions and suggestions.

During the visit, Shao conducted research at the Shaanxi Academy of Traditional Chinese Opera, an institution where a CPPCC National Committee member works. Li Qun, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, engaged in a "serving the people" activity at Northwestern Polytechnical University.

The team members stressed the strategic significance of establishing a system of defining symbols and best elements of Chinese civilization. They called for giving full play to the CPPCC's role as a specialized consultative body, and urged CPPCC members to deepen research and offer practical recommendations on pivotal questions such as what should be distilled into the system, how it should be expressed, and how it can be advanced in a systematic manner. Such efforts will contribute wisdom and strength to building the system and advancing the building of a socialist cultural powerhouse, they noted.
