Bater, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, led a team of CPPCC National Committee members to Liaoning province from June 1 to 5, where they conducted a survey on governance of grassroots religious affairs.

The team visited grassroots religious associations and venues for religious activities in Jinzhou, Panjin, Liaoyang, Benxi and Fushun, where they held discussions with local officials, residents, and religious professionals. The team members acknowledged that Liaoning province has been earnestly reinforcing grassroots infrastructure, enhancing law-based governance, preventing and defusing risks in the religious sphere and achieving notable results in promoting religious harmony, ethnic unity and social stability.

The team members called for continued in-depth research and consultation on issues such as improving the grassroots religious governance system, raising the level of law-based religious affairs governance, strengthening regulation of online religious activities and building a capable grassroots religious work force. They said that the CPPCC should further leverage its role as a specialized consultative body to build broad consensus and pool synergy for stronger grassroots governance of religious affairs.

Religious figures among the participating CPPCC members pledged to uphold full and rigorous governance of religious affairs, guide religious circles to enhance self-education, self-management and self-discipline and rally religious believers around the CPC and the government, so as to contribute to the great cause of building a strong country and achieving national rejuvenation through Chinese modernization.
