Zhu Yongxin, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led a group of members from the CPPCC National Committee's Committee on Education, Science, Health and Sports to Heilongjiang province to carry out a grassroots-focused mass sports campaign from June 2 to 5.

They visited Daqing and Qiqihar, as well as four counties and districts under the two cities' jurisdiction. They toured schools, sports training bases, public fitness centers and outdoor exercise venues, engaging in in-depth exchanges with residents to gain a detailed understanding of local sports reforms and mass fitness initiatives.

During the visit, the group organized a series of grassroots sports activities and public fitness coaching sessions given by sports champions. They also coordinated efforts to implement the national initiative on promoting spinal health and vision care among adolescents and paid tribute at the Iron Man Wang Jinxi Memorial Hall as part of a Red culture education program.

Since the 14th CPPCC National Committee was established, CPPCC members have regularly engaged in the "serving-the-people" themed initiative across various fields. Among these efforts, bringing sports to the grassroots stands out as a signature project spearheaded by the CPPCC National Committee's Committee on Education, Science, Health and Sports to benefit the public through sports.

This campaign advanced the extension of public fitness services to grassroots communities through field research on local sports reforms, deployment of high-quality coaching resources and dissemination of science-based fitness knowledge. These efforts are designed to improve the quality and effectiveness of mass sports programs and ensure they take root at the community level. Meanwhile, the lectures given by sports champions offered young students a rare opportunity to learn from role models up close and appreciate the charisma of competitive sports. Local students were deeply inspired by the Chinese sporting spirit characterized by striving for national glory, perseverance, self-transcendence, solidarity and relentless pursuit of excellence.
