The 15th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 13th Central Committee of the China Democratic League (CDL) was held on June 4 and 5 in Suining, Sichuan province. The meeting reviewed achievements and experience of CDL organizational development since the leadership transition, studied and deployed measures to strengthen organizational development under new circumstances and advance the education campaign of participating in governance for the public good and working diligently for the people.

Ding Zhongli, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and chairman of the CDL Central Committee, addressed the opening session. Wang Guangqian, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and executive vice-chairman of the CDL Central Committee, spoke at the closing session.

Ding noted that since the leadership transition, the CDL as a whole has earnestly implemented the guiding principles of the CPC Central Committee's directives on strengthening the building of participating parties in socialism with Chinese characteristics, carried out the CDL's Five-Year Plan for Self-Development (2023–27), and advanced the implementation of the "strengthening CDL through talent cultivation" strategy.

According to Ding, notable progress has been made in leadership development, organizational growth, cultivation of representative members and the development of local and grassroots organizations, while internal oversight has advanced to a new stage. These efforts have provided a solid talent base and organizational guarantee for the CDL's self-development and performance of its functions as a participating party, he said.

Ding added that since the launch of the education campaign among all non-Communist parties and personages without party affiliation, CDL organizations at all levels have thoroughly followed the campaign's requirements by carrying out study and education, investigation and research, problem identification and rectification and performance of duties. As the campaign has entered a critical stage, the entire league should draw on its fundamental traditions and translate political consensus into concrete actions of serving the people and offering well-grounded policy recommendations, he said.

Wang urged making tangible headway in the education campaign and carrying out rectification accordingly, while organizing municipal-level leadership transitions in an orderly manner and ensuring that competent members assume leading posts.

He also stressed planning ahead and conducting provincial-level leadership transitions with strict, fact-based standards, so that representatives who are politically steadfast, professionally accomplished, and widely recognized by CDL members can be elected as chairpersons.
