Su Hui, vice-chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League, led a team of CPPCC National Committee members to Anhui province from May 26 to 30.

They conducted a survey on strengthening cross-Strait cooperation to promote in-depth integration of technological and industrial innovation. Also, they supervised the handling of key proposals on accelerating the layout of cross-Strait sci-tech innovation centers and advancing the integration of technological and industrial innovation.

The team visited Wuhu and Hefei, where they surveyed key technology enterprises, R&D platforms, and industrial parks. They toured EFORT Intelligent Equipment Co Ltd and Fusion Energy Technology Co Ltd to learn about Anhui's progress in deep integration of sci-tech and industrial innovation and the status of Anhui-Taiwan sci-tech exchanges and cooperation. The team held symposiums with officials from related provincial and municipal departments, enterprise executives, researchers, and representatives of Taiwan compatriots and Taiwan-funded enterprises in Anhui to solicit opinions and suggestions.

The team members noted that Anhui has leveraged the strengths of high-level sci-tech platforms such as the Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center to optimize the business environment and attract Taiwan-funded enterprises to deeply integrate into emerging industry clusters. These moves have achieved positive results in promoting cross-Strait complementary industrial development and technical collaboration, they added.

The team members emphasized that strengthening cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation and advancing the in-depth integration of technological and industrial innovation are important pathways to bolstering the Chinese nation's economy and expanding the common interests of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. They called on the CPPCC to fully leverage its role as a bridge and connector to actively offer advice on accelerating the layout of cross-Strait sci-tech innovation centers, deepening collaborative industrial chain innovation and jointly cultivating and sharing sci-tech talent.

These efforts aim to support Taiwan compatriots and enterprises in sharing the opportunities of the mainland's high-quality development and to facilitate cross-Strait sci-tech and industrial integration with win-win outcomes, they said.
