Jiang Zuojun, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and chairman of the Central Committee of the China Zhi Gong Party (CZGP), led a team of CPPCC members to Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, on May 26 and 27. They conducted a survey on supporting the development of healthy communities and campuses.

Jiang and the team visited the Xiwang community in Kaiyuan subdistrict and the Wucun Subdistrict Health Service Center in Siming district. They surveyed a health cabin, a health-themed book corner, a psychological counseling room and a fitness activity room. They also listened to briefings on the progress of building healthy communities.

Jiang visited the Chinese Language and Culture College of Huaqiao University to observe the on-campus free clinic operated by renowned practitioners. He also reviewed the development of the "Healthy Qiaoyuan", a wellness-themed student residential community, and observed cultural experience activities led by CZGP experts, interacting with faculty and students. Jiang emphasized that disease prevention and physical exercise must run through every stage of building healthy communities and campuses.

He noted that supporting the development of healthy communities is a crucial step in implementing the Healthy China initiative. He also emphasized the need to focus on two key realities, namely that most residents live in communities and that most diseases are preventable, thereby making community-based health promotion a key priority of healthcare. He called for more attention to be given to creating a healthy environment, improving health services and promoting health-oriented culture to effectively raise residents' awareness of personal health.
