On May 22, Wang Dongfeng, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), visited Beihang University, the workplace of Tao Zhi, a CPPCC National Committee member from the sector of personages without party affiliation. The visit focused on the theme of promoting the application of scientific research achievements and advancing self-reliance and strength in science and technology.

Wang and his team toured the university´s history museum, aviation and aerospace museum, Center for Micro-Nano Innovation and Embodied AI Robotics Institute to learn about the university's development, technological progress and sci-tech achievement commercialization.

Wang presided over the seminar held during the trip and delivered a speech. Wang Yunpeng, president of Beihang University, spoke about the university's efforts in pursuing innovative development. Tao, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee and a professor at Beihang University, delivered a speech. Seven CPPCC National Committee members attended and participated in the discussion.

Participants underscored the importance of focusing on the application of research achievements, incentivizing researchers' initiatives, building new models of deep university-enterprise collaboration, strengthening professional service platforms and diversifying financing channels in order to support self-reliance and strength in science and technology.

They urged the CPPCC to leverage its role as a specialized consultative body to conduct in-depth research on key bottlenecks hindering sci-tech achievement commercialization, offer well-founded advice and build broad consensus, thereby contributing wisdom and strength to building China into a leader in science and technology and realizing Chinese modernization.
