Su Hui, vice-chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and chairwoman of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League Central Committee, led a group of CPPCC National Committee members to Xi'an, Shaanxi province, on May 21. They conducted a survey and democratic oversight on ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin.

The group visited the Xi'an Jingwei Wetland Nature Reserve for an on-site inspection. They received briefings on Shaanxi's efforts on ecological protection and high-quality development in the basin and examined the ecological restoration at the confluence of the Jinghe and Weihe rivers and the optimization of riparian forest belts. They also learned about rural vitalization industries in Gaoling district of Xi'an, as well as the preservation of historical culture concerning the Yellow River.

Su called on CPPCC National Committee members to strengthen collaboration with Shaanxi province, expand the scope of special democratic oversight and guide compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to jointly safeguard the mother river of the Chinese nation.

This effort aims to forge a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, promote the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations, and advance the cause of national reunification, she said.
