Shao Hong, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Jiusan Society, led a team of members from the CPPCC National Committee's Committee on Culture, Historical Data and Studies to Hebei province from May 11 to 15 to conduct a special inspection. It focused on deepening culture-tourism integration and unleashing the consumption potential of cultural and tourism services, which is also part of the committee's democratic oversight on accelerating the development of the cultural industry.

The team members visited exemplary culture-tourism integration projects, cultural industry bases, and cultural heritage sites in Baoding and Handan. They held briefings and engaged in in-depth exchanges with representatives of local culture and tourism departments, institutions and practitioners. During the inspection, the members held cultural outreach activities, and donated calligraphic works to the Langya Mountain Five Heroes Exhibition Hall in Yixian county.

The team members said that the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) has outlined specific deployments for accelerating the building of a leading country in culture and tourism. They stressed adhering to the principle of fostering tourism growth through culture and expanding cultural reach through tourism development, promoting the integration of forms, products, and markets in culture and tourism industries, and building them into a pillar industry boosting people's well-being and happiness.

The members said that the CPPCC should leverage its role as a specialized consultative body by focusing on improving the modern tourism system, enriching the supply of high-quality tourism products, expanding consumption in sports, culture and tourism industries, and enhancing the consumer experience. They also emphasized that through in-depth research, they would identify constraints on unlocking the consumption potential of the cultural and tourism sector, put forward targeted suggestions and contribute CPPCC wisdom and strength to scientific decision-making and effective policy implementation, thereby promoting the high-quality development of the culture and tourism industry in the new era.
