Wang Dongfeng, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led an inspection team of CPPCC National Committee members without party affiliation to Shanghai from April 26 to 30. The inspection focused on developing advanced manufacturing clusters and consolidating the foundation of the real economy.

The inspection team visited key enterprises, industrial parks and scientific research institutions within advanced manufacturing clusters, such as those specializing in integrated circuits, biomedicine and marine engineering equipment. Through their face-to-face exchanges with enterprise executives, park administrators and researchers, the team members gained a deep understanding of Shanghai's measures and achievements in developing advanced manufacturing clusters and consolidating the foundation of the real economy. A symposium was subsequently held in which the team offered opinions and suggestions.

The team members highlighted the importance of promoting the integration of scientific and technological innovation with industrial innovation. This involves building an independent innovation system characterized by deep integration and collaboration. While focusing on the high-quality development of key advanced manufacturing clusters, efforts should be made to construct advanced manufacturing bases that are high-end, intelligent and green, they said.

Additionally, it is crucial to improve factor allocation and the policy framework to foster a favorable industrial ecosystem, to cultivate advanced manufacturing clusters in a tiered manner, and to propel national-level clusters toward becoming world-leading ones, the team members said. They also emphasized giving full play to the principal role of CPPCC National Committee members, encouraging them to offer more suggestions, thereby contributing wisdom and strength to accelerating the development of advanced manufacturing clusters and consolidating the foundation of the real economy.
