Wang Guangqian, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led a team of non-Communist Party of China members of the CPPCC National Committee to survey the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region from April 20 to 24. The survey focused on forest and grassland resource protection and the realization of ecological value.

The team visited the cities of Guilin, Laibin and Nanning. They went deep into nature reserves, universities, villages and industrial parks, extensively listening to opinions and suggestions from grassroots cadres, researchers, and enterprise representatives. They gained a detailed understanding of the practical explorations and effective experiences of Guangxi in forest and grassland resource protection and the realization of ecological value.

The team members said that it is essential to fully, accurately and comprehensively implement the new development philosophy, firmly uphold and practice the concept that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets, and unwaveringly follow the path of prioritizing ecology and green development. Efforts should be made to increase forest area, improve forest quality, enhance the carbon sequestration capacity of ecosystems, and make greater contributions to achieving China's carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals and safeguarding global ecological security, they said.

They urged the CPPCC to leverage its members' expertise and place greater importance on improving quality, promoting industries and benefiting the people when offering suggestions on protecting ecological resources and realizing ecological value, so that lucid waters and lush mountains can yield greater ecological, economic and social benefits.
