Zhu Yongxin, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy, led an inspection team of members from the Committee on Education, Science, Health and Sports of the CPPCC National Committee to Hubei province from April 14 to 17.

Their inspection focused on improving the mechanism for collaborative talent cultivation through education and science, which is also one of the CPPCC National Committee's key tasks for democratic oversight in 2026.

The team visited the cities of Yichang, Jingzhou and Wuhan, where they inspected primary schools, vocational colleges, universities and research institutes, as well as enterprises and industrial parks. They held symposiums to gain a detailed understanding of the progress Hubei has made in promoting collaborative talent cultivation through education and science. During the inspection, they organized a science popularization event, in which Shi Daning, a member of the CPPCC National Committee, delivered a lecture to over 400 teachers and students in Jingzhou.

The team members noted that the outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) establishes basically forming an integrated development pattern of education, science and technology and talent as a main objective for the next five years. They said that it is essential to leverage the CPPCC's role as a specialized consultative body and focus on improving the mechanism for collaborative talent cultivation through education and science during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.

They called for in-depth research on aspects such as restructuring evaluation and incentive mechanisms, improving supply-demand matching, promoting the flow of high-quality resources to the grassroots, and strengthening overall coordination and input guarantees. CPPCC members should actively make suggestions concerning these fields while widely building consensus, so as to help form a new, dynamic and deeply integrated pattern for collaborative talent cultivation through education and science, they added.
