Bater, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led a team of CPPCC National Committee members to inspect Yunnan province from April 12 to 16. Their inspection focused on advancing urban-rural integrated development in ethnic regions.
They visited many villages and towns, intangible cultural heritage workshops, industrial parks, and border ports in the Diqing Tibetan autonomous prefecture and Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, gained a first-hand understanding of the local communities and held discussions and exchanges with the cadres and the public.
The team members said that advancing urban-rural integrated development is an essential requirement for Chinese modernization. It is necessary to conduct inspections and research on key tasks such as promoting the rational allocation of urban and rural production factors in ethnic regions, ensuring equitable access to basic public services, advancing integrated infrastructure development, consolidating and expanding the achievements in poverty alleviation, and effectively fostering a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation in tangible and meaningful ways, they said.
Through consultative deliberation and democratic supervision, the CPPCC's role as a specialized consultative body would be fully leveraged to widely build consensus and pool strength for advancing urban-rural integrated development, and to provide solid support for ensuring a good start to the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30) and advancing Chinese modernization, according to the team members.
