The Jiusan Society Beijing Municipal Committee held a conference on April 3 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of its establishment. Shao Hong, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and executive vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Jiusan Society, attended the gathering and delivered a speech.
Shao said that over the past 75 years, the Jiusan Society Beijing Municipal Committee has always upheld the leadership of the Communist Party of China and steadfastly followed the path of socialist political development with Chinese characteristics. Uniting the organizations at all levels and its members in Beijing, the Jiusan Society Beijing Municipal Committee has carried forward the fine traditions of patriotism, democracy and science, actively participated in Beijing's construction, reform and development, and made positive contributions to Beijing's economic and social development, according to Shao.
Shao noted that China is currently in a critical period of comprehensively advancing the building of a strong country and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese modernization. He expressed the hope that the Jiusan Society Beijing Municipal Committee would take the 75th anniversary as a new starting point to thoroughly implement the arrangements of the outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) while upholding its original aspirations. Also, it should keep in mind the major national priorities to achieve new accomplishments in duty performance, uphold fundamental principles while breaking new ground to stimulate new vitality in self-development, and make persistent efforts to drive all aspects of its work to a new level, he added.
Liu Zhongfan, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Jiusan Society and chairman of the Jiusan Society Beijing Municipal Committee, delivered a report at the meeting. Wang Jinnan, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party and chairman of its Beijing Municipal Committee, delivered a congratulatory speech on behalf of Beijing branches of other non-Communist parties and the Beijing Municipal Federation of Industry and Commerce.
On April 8, 1951, the Beijing Branch of the Jiusan Society (the predecessor of the Jiusan Society Beijing Municipal Committee) was established, with 106 members at the time. Today, the Jiusan Society Beijing Municipal Committee has over 13,000 members, overseeing four district committees, six district working committees and more than 300 grassroots organizations.
