A meeting to handle proposals for the fourth session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) was held in Beijing on March 30. Shi Taifeng, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended and delivered a speech.

Shi said that under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee, the CPPCC National Committee has been focusing on improving the quality of proposals, enhancing the institutional mechanisms, and deepening consultative exchanges so as to promote the high-quality development of proposal work. All undertaking units of the proposals have attached great importance to proposal-handling work, and further clarified the responsibilities through detailed and practical measures, ensuring the effectiveness of proposals.

During the fourth session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee, the CPPCC National Committee's members and participating units put forward proposals closely aligned with national priorities and public concerns, demonstrating their political responsibilities in serving the country and the people, Shi noted.

Shi emphasized that effectively handling the proposals of CPPCC members is conducive to promoting a good start and steady progress for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30), highlighting the unique advantages of socialist consultative democracy and reflecting the clear orientation of establishing and practicing a correct view of governance performance.

Wang Dongfeng, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the CPPCC National Committee, presided over the meeting. Yang Zhen, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the meeting.

Leading officials from the General Office of the CPC Central Committee, the General Office of the State Council, relevant departments, the CPPCC National Committee's General Office and special committees, as well as principals from proposal undertaking units were also present at the meeting.
