From March 16 to 20, a team from the Committee on Ethnic and Religious Affairs of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) conducted a survey in Guizhou province. The survey focused on integrating culture and tourism to promote interaction, exchanges and integration among all ethnic groups.

The team visited Tongren city and the Qiandongnan Miao and Dong autonomous prefecture, where they conducted on-site inspections in ethnic villages, relocated communities, cultural venues and museums as well as industrial parks. They engaged in in-depth exchanges with local officials and residents to gather opinions and suggestions.

The team acknowledged that Guizhou has actively explored new models for integrating culture and tourism to advance all-round integration for the people of all ethnic groups physically, culturally, economically, socially, and psychologically, thereby expanding the depth and breadth of their exchanges and integration.

The team emphasized that interaction, exchanges, and integration are essential for forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation and uniting all ethnic groups as one. Deepening the integration of culture and tourism can provide a broad platform for larger-scale interaction, more extensive exchanges, and deeper integration among people of all ethnic groups, they noted.

They added that it is crucial to enhance understanding of the significance of cultural and tourism integration in promoting such exchanges. Efforts should be made to explore and showcase historical facts in this field, using cultural relics, ancient texts, iconic landmarks, and ethnic villages to tell the story of the community for the Chinese nation.

Additionally, talent development should be strengthened by improving the professionalism of tour guides and cultivating versatile tourism management personnel to support the integration of culture and tourism, they said. Infrastructure development, including transportation, communication, and public service facilities in ethnic regions, should also be enhanced, according to the team members.

The team was led by Zhang Yijiong, chairman of the Committee on Ethnic and Religious Affairs of the CPPCC National Committee. Benba Zhaxi, vice-chairman of the Committee on Ethnic and Religious Affairs, along with CPPCC National Committee members Liu Jianbo, Zhao Jin, Zhao Deming, Dai Junliang, Wang Biao, Wei Wei, Du Mingyan, Han Wenlin and Meng Aijun, participated in the survey.
