The State Council Information Office (SCIO) held a policy briefing on Friday to introduce how State Council departments were handling suggestions from deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC) and proposals from members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in 2025.

In 2025, State Council departments handled a total of 8,754 suggestions submitted by NPC deputies and 4,868 proposals submitted by CPPCC National Committee members, accounting for 95.6 percent and 97.3 percent of the total numbers respectively. All were completed on schedule.

During the handling process, various departments thoroughly studied and implemented the newly amended Law on Deputies to the National People's Congress and newly revised regulations on the proposal work of the CPPCC National Committee, fully grasping new requirements concerning improving working mechanisms, strengthening communication and exchanges, urging and tracking implementation, and enhancing the transformation of results, so as to continuously improve the quality and efficiency of handling suggestions and proposals.

State Council departments adopted more than 4,900 suggestions put forward by NPC deputies and CPPCC members and introduced over 2,200 related policy measures, according to the briefing.

New progress has been made in optimizing the strategic layout for national development, supporting the building of a modern industrial system, stepping up efforts to stabilize investment and boost consumption, stimulating the dynamism and vitality of high-quality development, and intensifying efforts to address key and difficult issues in people's livelihoods, it noted.
