CPPCC’s Committee on Population, Resources and Environment holds plenary meeting

The Committee on Population, Resources and Environment of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held its fourth plenary meeting in Beijing on Jan 30. The meeting reviewed the committee's work in 2025 and discussed the work plan for 2026. CPPCC National Committee vice-chairpersons Shen Yueyue and Wang Guangqian addressed the meeting.

The meeting acknowledged the committee’s efforts in studying and implementing the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the plenary sessions of the 20th CPC Central Committee and addressing critical issues in the fields of population, resources and the environment.

The meeting also recognized the committee's achievements in giving full play to the expertise of its members to carry out consultations and deliberation of State affairs, inspections and surveys, and research on major issues.

In 2026, the committee will leverage its distinctive expertise to provide high-quality suggestions for the formulation and implementation of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) and advancing the Beautiful China initiative and high-quality population development, in order to support a strong start to the 15th Five-Year Plan, as stated in the meeting.

The committee will continue to strengthen ideological and political guidance and consensus building, promote policy communication at grassroots communities, and conduct public services, the meeting noted. It will implement the political responsibility of exercising full and rigorous Party self-governance, establish and practice a correct concept of performance evaluation, and comprehensively strengthen the committee's self-improvement to enhance the quality and efficiency of its work, in a bid to pool wisdom and strength to advance Chinese modernization, according to the meeting.
