On Jan 29, the General Office of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held a briefing on the upcoming annual session of the CPPCC National Committee in Zhuhai, South China's Guangdong province. More than 160 members of the CPPCC National Committee from Hong Kong and Macao attended the briefing.
Han Jianhua, deputy secretary-general of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the meeting and briefed the members about the work of the CPPCC National Committee in 2025 and matters related to the upcoming fourth session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee.
Han also extended his hope for the members to better fulfill their duties and leverage their positive roles to actively contribute to a good start for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30), support Hong Kong and Macao in further integrating into the overall national development agenda, and promote the long-term prosperity and stability of the two regions.
Su Guiguang, deputy head of the Committee on Proposals of the CPPCC National Committee, reported on the proposals submitted by CPPCC National Committee members from Hong Kong and Macao since the third session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee and their handling status.
On the same day, the CPPCC members also sat in on a briefing for Hong Kong and Macao deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC) organized by the General Office of the NPC Standing Committee. They heard reports from officials of the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Finance on the implementation of the national economic and social development plan and on the execution of budgets in 2025.
