From Jan 21 to 25, Wang Guangqian, vice-chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led an inspection team of CPPCC National Committee members from the All-China Women's Federation to Southwest China's Sichuan province. The inspection focused on optimizing fertility support policies and incentive measures to promote the building of a birth-friendly society.
The team visited childcare institutions, maternal and child health hospitals, universities, communities, rural areas and industrial parks in Panzhihua, Liangshan Yi autonomous prefecture and Ya'an. They engaged directly with grassroots officials and residents to learn about efforts in optimizing fertility support policies and gathered feedback from various stakeholders.
During the visit, CPPCC members organized a public service activity under the "serving the people" initiative in Shaba community of Huili city in Liangshan, delivering a lecture on preventing and treating common pediatric diseases for community workers and childbearing-age people.
The team emphasized implementing the major decisions and plans of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the plenary sessions of the 20th CPC Central Committee to promote high-quality population development. They stressed understanding and addressing new challenges in China's population development, and continuously optimizing fertility support policies and incentive measures, to foster a birth-friendly society and promote long-term balanced population growth.
They also highlighted the need to leverage the CPPCC's role by organizing and mobilizing all CPPCC National Committee members from the All-China Women's Federation to tackle key challenges in optimizing fertility support policies and incentive measures.
They emphasized researching into actual situations, offering truthful advice, and devising effective strategies to support the creation of a birth-friendly society, and unite efforts for Chinese modernization with high-quality population development.
