From Jan 13 to 16, Xian Hui, vice-chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, led a research team to Fujian province to promote work related to new generations of overseas Chinese.
During the trip, the research team traveled to Quanzhou, Longyan, and Fuzhou, where they conducted on-site visits to universities and enterprises funded by overseas Chinese, and primary and secondary schools. They engaged in discussions with new generations of overseas Chinese, school faculty and students, business leaders, and workers engaged in overseas Chinese affairs.
The research team also held meetings with local departments to gain in-depth understanding of issues such as young overseas Chinese returning to China for visits or education, and their participation in innovation and entrepreneurship in Fujian.
The research team noted that Fujian, as a province with strong overseas Chinese connections, has made substantial and meticulous efforts in this field, and has developed many successful practices and effective methods.
They stated that a united and integrated Chinese nation is the shared root of all Chinese people at home and abroad, noting that the profound and extensive Chinese culture is their shared soul, and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is their shared dream.
They stressed that it is necessary to better unite the hearts and strength of overseas Chinese, intensify efforts to recruit and nurture young overseas Chinese students, and encourage them to contribute more proactively to Chinese modernization.
The research team urged efforts to strengthen ties with overseas Chinese communities and conduct thorough research and surveys in this regard, so as to pool strength and wisdom for advancing Chinese modernization.
