CPPCC Committee on Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese holds plenary meeting

The Committee on Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and Overseas Chinese of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held its fifth plenary meeting in Beijing on Jan 9.

The meeting studied and implemented the guiding principles of the fourth plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the Central Economic Work Conference. It also reviewed the work in 2025 of the Committee on Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and Overseas Chinese, and its key tasks for 2026.

CPPCC National Committee vice-chairpersons Ho Hau Wah, Su Hui, and Xian Hui delivered speeches at the meeting, either in person or via video link.

The meeting acknowledged the committee's efforts in 2025 in implementing the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and the plenary sessions of the 20th CPC Central Committee. It also highlighted the committee's achievements in participating in deliberation of State affairs, offering suggestions and strengthening unity and self-development by enhancing ideological and political guidance and following the CPC Central Committee's major policies for work related to Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese affairs.

It was underscored at the meeting that, in 2026, the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan  (2026-30) period, the committee will strive to unite and guide its members and those from related CPPCC participating groups to focus closely on the primary task of facilitating the implementation of the 15th Five-Year Plan and advancing Chinese modernization, and continuously promote the high-quality development of work related to Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese affairs.
