CPPCC’s Committee on Education, Science, Health and Sports holds plenary meeting in Beijing

The Committee on Education, Science, Health and Sports, one of the ten special committees of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), held its fourth plenary meeting in Beijing on Dec 26.

The meeting studied the guiding principles of the fourth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Central Economic Work Conference, reviewed the special committee's work in 2025 and made arrangements for its key tasks in 2026.

Prior to the conference, Chen Wu, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, made positive remarks on the special committee's work in 2025 in an instruction and expressed high hopes for the tasks in the coming year. Zhu Yongxin, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

The meeting noted that, in 2025, the Committee on Education, Science, Health and Sports studied and implemented the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and all plenary sessions of the 20th CPC Central Committee.

According to the meeting, the special committee conducted in-depth inspections and research on the formulation of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30), and offered suggestions aligned with the Party and the country's central tasks, thus building broad consensus and making new achievements in its performance of duties.

Looking ahead to 2026, the meeting underscored that the special committee will uphold shared ideologies for unity and progress, so as to promote the implementation of the 15th Five-Year Plan.

With a focus on fostering technological talent capable of fulfilling teaching roles, achieving self-reliance and strength in high-level science and technology, and promoting the "Healthy China" initiative, the special committee will play a crucial role in the consultation and deliberation of State affairs, as well as in various inspection and survey initiatives.

The meeting also highlighted the special committee's readiness to launch more impactful "serving the people" initiatives, such as leveraging its members' expertise to deliver popular scientific lectures.

It was noted at the meeting that, in this way, the Committee on Education, Science, Health and Sports can improve the performance of its duties and implement the decisions and plans on the committee's work made by the CPC Central Committee and the CPPCC National Committee's leading Party members group.
