A conference on leading private enterprises supporting high-quality development of Central China's Hunan province was held on Dec 22 in Changsha, the provincial capital.
The event was co-hosted by the Hunan provincial government and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC).
Gao Yunlong, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and chairman of the ACFIC, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
Gao highlighted the importance of following the top-level design and strategic arrangements set at the fourth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) for the country's social and economic development over the next five years, and of implementing the measures outlined at the Central Economic Work Conference to ensure a strong start for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30).
Gao noted that the Private Economy Promotion Law, which came into effect on May 20, has codified the principles of unwavering support for both the public and non-public sectors and a commitment to the healthy growth of private enterprises and the entrepreneurs who run them. Together with a series of recently introduced policies aimed at encouraging innovation, dismantling barriers, regulating law enforcement, strengthening support and ensuring timely payment, the private economy is embracing unprecedented development opportunities, he said.
Gao expressed the hope that private enterprises will grasp development trends and maintain confidence in their growth. He urged them to play a greater role in building a modern industrial system, advancing scientific and technological innovation, and promoting coordinated regional development.
He also called on private enterprises to deepen cooperation with Hunan by tapping the province's comparative, policy, industrial and resource advantages, and contribute more to the province's development goals regarding advanced manufacturing, technological innovation, and inland reform and opening-up.
During the event, Shen Xiaoming, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, delivered a speech, and Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan, gave a briefing on the province's basic situation.
Representatives of private enterprises and business associations also attended the conference.
