The Committee on Ethnic and Religious Affairs of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held a symposium in Beijing on Dec 16, focusing on the CPPCC's work of promoting exchange and integration among ethnic groups.

Bater, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, delivered a speech at the meeting.

It was noted that, in 2025, the Committee on Ethnic and Religious Affairs effectively mobilized members of the CPPCC National Committee's participating groups of ethnic minorities and religious bodies to act as promoters of the Party's policies, defenders of the people's interests, and facilitators of social harmony.

As a result of these efforts, new tangible results have been achieved in activities promoting exchange and integration among ethnic groups, part of the "serving the people" initiative of the CPPCC National Committee.

The meeting emphasized the importance of intensifying the study and promotion of the guiding principles of major conferences, participating in political consultation and deliberation of State affairs, conducting  research, strengthening democratic supervision, and serving the people. In this way, the CPPCC can contribute its own wisdom and strength to implementing the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) and achieving common prosperity for people of all ethnic groups, according to the meeting.

It also highlighted that the Committee on Ethnic and Religious Affairs should align methods with aims and launch targeted measures to promote exchange and integration among ethnic groups, consolidate the sense of community for the Chinese nation, and make contributions to Chinese modernization.

During the event, several CPPCC members exchanged ideas, and more than 110 members from the Committee on Ethnic and Religious Affairs  and the CPPCC's participating groups of ethnic minorities and religious bodies took part in the symposium either on site or via video link.
