The fourth plenary session of the 15th Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD) opened in Beijing on Dec 9. The meeting reviewed the work report of the Standing Committee of the 15th CAPD Central Committee and other matters.

Cai Dafeng, chairman of the CAPD Central Committee, delivered the work report on behalf of the standing committee, and Zhu Yongxin, executive vice-chairman of the CAPD Central Committee, chaired the opening meeting.

In his report, Cai presented the CAPD's efforts in studying and implementing the guiding principles of the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) National Congress in 2022 and plenary sessions of the 20th CPC Central Committee, as well as in implementing the tasks outlined at the third plenary session of the 15th CAPD Central Committee.

He also highlighted the accomplishments achieved in the past year, especially those of major tasks such as marking the CAPD's 80th founding anniversary and strengthening the review and study of the CAPD's history.

Cai emphasized that the CAPD has worked hard to build itself into a party participating in State affairs in accordance with the requirements of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, and made coordinated progress in various aspects of its self-development.

He stressed that the CAPD implemented the CPC Central Committee's decisions and deployments, focused on major tasks, conducted study and research, fulfilled their duties, and did a good job in providing public services and connecting with overseas Chinese.

Underscoring that the next year is the starting year of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30), Cai called for further study and implementation of the guiding principles of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, and the implementation of the decisions adopted at the fourth plenary session of the 15th CAPD Central Committee, to strengthen the CAPD's self-improvement and support the overall development agenda of the country.
