Wang Huning pays official visit to Indonesia

JAKARTA -- Wang Huning, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), expressed China's willingness to strengthen alignment of development strategies with Indonesia during his official visit to the country from Wednesday to Thursday at the invitation of Ahmad Muzani, chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) of Indonesia.

Wang met separately in Jakarta with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Speaker of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani, Speaker of the Regional Representative Council Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin, and held talks with Muzani.

During his meeting with Prabowo, Wang said that China is ready to work with Indonesia to implement the important consensus reached between the two heads of state, and jointly pursue modernization paths suited to their respective national conditions so as to contribute more to world peace, stability and prosperity.

Wang said China firmly supports the Indonesian government in safeguarding political and social stability and achieving greater development. He expressed the belief that Indonesia will uphold the one-China principle and support the Chinese people's just cause of opposing "Taiwan independence" separatism and striving for national reunification.

Prabowo said that Indonesia sincerely admires China for its remarkable development achievements and is willing to learn from China's successful experience as it pursues an independent development path suited to its own national conditions.

Noting that Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to the one-China principle and that Taiwan is part of China, he said Indonesia is confident about the prospects of bilateral relations and stands ready to consolidate the sound momentum of their development and work toward an even higher level of comprehensive strategic partnership.

During his talks with Muzani, Wang said that over the 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties, China-Indonesia relations have achieved substantial progress. China will unswervingly advance high-quality development and expand high-standard opening-up, bringing new opportunities to Indonesia and other friendly countries through the fresh achievements of Chinese modernization.

Wang noted that the CPPCC stands ready to deepen exchanges and mutual learning with the MPR, so as to better serve their respective modernization endeavors and the building of a China-Indonesia community with a shared future.

Muzani spoke highly of the fruitful cooperation between the two countries across various fields, adding that the MPR is willing to strengthen exchanges with the CPPCC, act on the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, and contribute to the development of bilateral relations.

During his meetings with Puan and Najamudin, Wang said that China is ready to work with Indonesia to further elevate bilateral friendship, mutual trust, and strategic cooperation to new levels, so as to better benefit the two peoples.

Puan and Najamudin noted that the friendship between the two countries has deep historical roots and that China is an important strategic partner for Indonesia. In recent years, bilateral relations have made substantial progress and brought tangible benefits to both peoples.

Indonesia highly appreciates and actively supports China's Belt and Road Initiative. The House of Representatives and the Regional Representative Council stand ready to continue playing a positive role in deepening mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, said the two officials.

During the visit, Wang also briefed the Indonesian side on the outcomes of the fourth plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China Central Committee, saying that China stands ready to advance the alignment between Chinese modernization and the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision and to further promote practical cooperation between the two countries.

The Indonesian side congratulated China on the successful convening of the fourth plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China Central Committee and expressed readiness to work with China to elevate bilateral relations to a new level.
