On Dec 2, the Committee on Population, Resources and Environment of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, together with relevant institutions, organized a lecture by CPPCC members and experts for seniors in Beijing, focusing on healthcare and the prevention and treatment of age-related diseases.
This activity, part of the CPPCC National Committee's "serving the people" initiative, aimed to implement the tasks related to actively addressing population aging issues as outlined at the fourth plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China Central Committee.
Shen Yueyue, vice-chairwoman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the event.
The CPPCC members and experts conducted outreach for more than 140 residents in a neighborhood of Haidian district in Beijing.
During the event, Liu Meilin, a member of the Committee on Population, Resources and Environment and a chief physician of the Department of Geriatric Medicine at Peking University First Hospital, leveraged her expertise to lecture on geriatric cardiovascular diseases. Liu and another expert also answered a variety of questions raised by the audience, and engaged in in-depth discussions with them.
Since the first session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee in 2023, the Committee on Population, Resources and Environment has made sustainable efforts to align its members' expertise with people's needs, and actively conducted a series of "serving the people" activities.
