On Nov 28, Yang Zhen, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, attended a reception in Beijing hosted by the embassy of Timor-Leste to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the country's independence.

Yang met with Timor-Leste's Vice-Prime Minister Francisco Kalbuadi Lay, who made a special trip to China for the gathering. They exchanged opinions on promoting the development of the bilateral relationship.

Lay reiterated that Timor-Leste firmly adheres to the one-China principle.
