The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee held a consultation meeting of its members from the ethnic minorities sector on Nov 25 to discuss promoting publicity efforts to consolidate the sense of community for the Chinese nation.
Bater, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, addressed the gathering.
Several CPPCC National Committee members and one expert delivered speeches during the meeting. Officials from the National Ethnic Affairs Commission gave briefings on relevant matters and held discussions with CPPCC members and the expert.
The meeting recognized that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012, consolidating the sense of community for the Chinese nation has been taken as the main theme of the Party's work on ethnic affairs in the new era, and as the foundation of work on various fronts in regions inhabited by ethnic groups.
The meeting noted that the CPPCC should make sustainable efforts to conduct research, participate in consultation and deliberation of State affairs, and enhance democratic supervision, in a bid to promote such publicity efforts.
The meeting stressed that the CPPCC should leverage its advantages as a specialized consultative institution, and encourage its members from the ethnic minorities sector to play a leading role in consolidating this sense of community and telling good stories about it.
