An exhibition of fine art and calligraphy marking the 80th anniversary of the founding of the China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD) opened at the National Art Museum in Beijing on Nov 23.

Cai Dafeng, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and chairman of the CAPD Central Committee, attended the gathering and delivered a speech. Zhu Yongxin, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and executive vice-chairman of the CAPD Central Committee, hosted the opening ceremony.

Noting that the CAPD was established 80 years ago in Shanghai by patriotic democratic personages, Cai stressed that the CAPD has always adhered to its original aspiration and struggled through thick and thin with the country and the Chinese people. The CAPD has worked in solidarity with the Communist Party of China and thrived in China's new political party system, making important contributions to China's revolution, construction, reform and development, he said.

In this exhibition, the CAPD members offered exquisite works with their true feelings, in a bid to motivate the CAPD to forge ahead on the new journey, to push forward Chinese modernization, and to leverage its role in the system of multiparty cooperation.
