The calligraphy and painting office of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) convened a work symposium in Beijing on Nov 20.
The meeting was organized to study and implement the guiding principles of the fourth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, review work done in this year and outline tasks for 2026.
Wang Dongfeng, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the CPPCC National Committee and director of the calligraphy and painting office, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
Wang highlighted studying and implementing the guiding principles of the fourth plenary session as a major political task for now and some time to come.
Wang urged understanding the plenum's strategies on cultural development and requirements for the CPPCC's work. More efforts should be made to tell good stories of China and present a China that is credible, appealing and respectable through calligraphy and painting, so as to consolidate common ideological and political foundations for unity and struggle, he added.
Wang noted that, this year, the office has adhered to inheriting, developing and innovating calligraphy and painting affairs under the CPPCC National Committee's leadership, and launched a series of activities of creation, exhibition, education and exchanges.
Wang said the office has built a systematic and standardized workflow to accomplish various tasks, mapped out a new panorama of relevant affairs and achieved good results in political, social and public opinion perspectives.
Wang stressed the need to adhere to the concept of "putting people first" to create exquisite works popular among the people, and leverage the impact and guiding role of the office members to expand the convergence of interests.
Wang emphasized the importance of fulfilling the office's duties in proposing policy recommendations for developing a great socialist culture in China.
The meeting also deliberated on and adopted the office's work conclusion for 2025 and its work plan for 2026.
