The 19th Heluo Culture Seminar, hosted by the Chinese Culture Research Institute, took place in Kaifeng city of Central China's Henan province on Nov 13. The meeting brought together almost 200 scholars and representatives from both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions to discuss the inheritance and development of Heluo culture in the context of cultural prosperity.

Su Hui, vice-chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

Su noted that relevant research should be conducted under the guidance of the guiding principles of the fourth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and integrated into the Chinese modernization drive, so as to leverage Heluo culture's supportive role in development.

Su stated that the creative transformation and innovative development of Heluo culture should be encouraged in accordance with the decisions and deployments of the fourth plenum, in order to pool wisdom and strength for building China into a cultural powerhouse.

Su highlighted that this year marks the 80th anniversary of Taiwan's restoration to China, and that Heluo culture testifies to the shared roots across the Strait. More efforts should be made to illustrate the similar development trajectories of Heluo culture, Minnan culture and Hakka culture, she added.

Su also stressed that the forms of cross-Strait exchanges should be innovated and more youth from both sides of the Strait should be encouraged to participate in cultural research, in a bid to enhance their sense of belonging and identity with the Chinese nation, foster a sense of community for the Chinese nation, and promote national rejuvenation.
